We discovered in 2019 this precious, over 60-year old traditional farmhouse in Kompong Thom Province, 150 km from Siem Reap. While negotiating the purchase with the owner, Ms. Sophorn, we noticed how emotional she was at the prospect of letting her house go. She explained us that it had been built from top to bottom by her late husband shortly after their wedding, when she was fourteen.

The tale by this mother of 12 and grand-mother of many kids was so moving that we solemnly made her the promise that we’d rebuild the house exactly as it had been during these happy decades. XX, along with her daughters, were our guests of honor when we inaugurated the reborn house in 2023. And we decided to call it Yeay House, ‘Grandma’s House’.
